I want to assure my readers that I am still around. I haven’t been able to update the site because I have been unable to visit any new places. Hopefully that will change with Halloween right around the corner.

T. Owens recently traveled to Purdy and stopped by the Hurst House to take a few pictures. She took one that I found particularly interesting.

Please note that she took these pictures from the outside and did not enter the home. You are welcome to take pictures of the front from the outside but do not trespass and break in to the home. This IS NOT abandoned property and you WILL be prosecuted.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven’t disappeared and abandoned this blog. I have been crazy busy and have been unable to get out and go. I am hoping to return to Shiloh again soon and maybe I will be able to get some more interesting pictures near the Bloody Pond.

I had a chance to visit this place at the end of February right before sunset.  I took several photos but found nothing of interest in them. I walked up to the statue of Mary behind the church and it is a very beautiful marker and in very good shape to be so near 100 years old. Beneath her eyes are stains but they appear to be something purposely placed on the statue to give it the appearance that it has bled from the eyes. However, it does not resemble a blood stain at all as it is a light rusty color. Blood leaves a darker stain.

There is a great amount of history in this cemetery and it is very well kept. If you have the chance, certainly visit here but please be respectful. When I arrived, someone had knocked out one of the windows in the back of the church and it was laying a few feet away from the tombstones. It’s a shame that people do such things as it really is a very lovely place. I will post pictures when I have the chance.

It’s still way too cold to venture out to explore new places, but I have updates!

I spoke to an employee of WMHI yesterday and there are numerous reports of incidents occurring in Luton Hall. One woman reported her hair being pushed behind her shoulder while several others have reported a presence in one of the restrooms.

I also learned that years ago there was a woman (I think I was told it was a woman) who could levitate above several feet above the bed. Apparently, many staff members walked into her room and discovered her doing just that. Many of the employees believe she is still lurking on the top floor and occasionally makes her presence known.

It’s cold outside.

It’s VERY cold outside. Everyone is sick and it’s just too hard to do anything outside right now. I do have a lead on an indoor investigation but it could be a little while. In the meantime, please send me information about any place you would like to see investigated so I can start looking into it now and be prepared when the weather is a little better. I am certainly not abandoning this blog, as it is my first love. I will definitely be adding everything I can here but right now it’s not possible for me to go out and investigate. I would still love to see your ghost photos and hear your stories. Hopefully, I will have some of my own to add soon because I am already missing the hunt.

Have I told you about the old train tracks in Mercer yet? Hmmmm…I will have to add that if anyone is interested.

Some of you may have already heard. Wild 100.7 from Corinth, MS did a live remote from Purdy last night. The crew talked to people riding the haunted hayride and toured the cemetery and Hurst House. The hayride will continue through Halloween and costs $5 per person. They start every night at 7 PM and continue until 9 PM.

I have heard lots of people report seeing things in photos or videos. If you have photos or videos from Purdy, we would love to see them. You can send them to tnhauntings@writersbeacon.com.

That said, I hope all of this is gone by 10 PM on Halloween night, else it ruins my plans. I prefer the area to be quiet. I think I am hoping for too much, though. I am looking in to alternative places to visit in case this area is still buzzing. If you have any suggestions, email me and let me know.

Halloween is fast approaching and I am sure many of you will be out searching for spooks. I’d like to point out a few places to visit and a few to stay away from.

Interest in the Hurst Mansion in Purdy, TN is increasing and so is the vandalism. I will warn you. Stay away! A couple was arrested just a few weeks ago for trespassing. I can guarantee you that this house will be well watched for the next few weeks and if you plan to visit, you will want to take along bail money. The owner is fed up and wants no one on this property.

DO NOT trespass on private property. Vandalism or littering is never acceptable at any place you visit. Even if the place is a mess when you arrive, it is not okay to add to it.

DO travel in pairs. Never go alone. Have a good time, be respectful of the places you visit, and bring a camera. Remember to send all your interesting photos to tnhauntings@writersbeacon.com!

I know things have been slow on my blog, but things have been crazy busy here. Hopefully, I will be visiting a few new sites soon. It has been impossible to even try as hot as it has been. Thankfully, it is starting to cool off and this means I will be on the go more. I have a camping trip planned soon and will be in the Natchez Trace State Park area.
