This house is located on Highway 64, past the Super Wal-mart and Western Mental Health Institute. It is right off the highway right before you reach the Bolivar Ford and Mercury dealership.
The house is privately owned and I think it may be occupied. Do not trespass on this property.
This two story white house was said to have been occupied by Lucy Black many years ago. Local legend says she was a school teacher who taught children in her home. This was common back years ago. The legend continues to say that she murdered several of her students upstairs and now her ghost haunts the home, occasionally standing in the upstairs window. It has been told to me by someone who lived in the home almost two decades ago that you can hear footsteps upstairs at night and the occasional rattling of chains.
I never really believed the story to be true, but about 13 years ago I saw her ghost in the window above the porch. I just happened to notice her when I was driving past the house. The apparition was there for the next several nights and then I never saw her again. Feel free to drive by and look for her but please do not trespass on the property.
I lived in that house for four years! There were absolutely no rattling chains! Miss Lucy was a school teacher and loved animals, especially cats. We never had any problems, only the occasional door opening and closing. Sometimes the toilet would flush on its own. When we moved to town, her spirit moved with us. We continued to have the doors open and close and the toilet continued to flush. But rattling chains? Puh-lease!
Just passing on what I was told. It’s nice to hear from someone else who occupied the home.
By the way, since she now lives with you can we come by and look for her ghost in your window?
I see no reason for the lady to leave an follow any 1…for the simple reason y wuld she want to leave a home she had been at for all those yrs..a haunting is a haunting..they never leave..a roaming ghost will follow and get attached to ppl..I beleive the lady is still at the house…tooo many reportings of seeing her..maybe she loved cats but hated kids…I love how ppl try to ruin a good ghost story..:~P
i use to live in this house in 98-99 and there was a lot of stuff that happened here, my brother saw lucy black in the window. i waswondring if you had any pictures you coud send me so i could show my fiance. thanks
