Harts Bridge Road – Jackson, TN
April 30, 2008 by atorturedsoul
To get to the bridge, turn beside South Side High School in Jackson, TN onto Harts Bridge Road. Go several miles until you reach the bridge.
I have been to this bridge several times years ago. I do not know what really happened there, but local legend says someone was killed on this bridge and you honk your horn and flash your lights and they are supposed to appear. Some people have said their car would not start and others have claimed a white mist followed them.
I will say that I have never seen or heard anything, nor have I had car trouble at this place. I do not believe this bridge to be haunted. If anyone else has proof of a haunting at this location, please email ghoststories@writersbeacon.com.

My family and I visited Harts bridge over the weekend. It was around 11:PM. We pulled over on a white gravel road at the stop sign an did what my father had told us to do blow the horn twice, flash the lights twice, and open an close the door on the driver side twice. Then turn off the car and get out. We did, as we started to the bridge we heard a car coming. So we went back to the car the two guys got in first then I had got in an sat down starting to shut the door, my sister was still outside fixing to open the door when we hear this scream of horror. It was long and not broken it was steady an not a crack one in it. the worse part was it sounded like someone being killed like on T.V. only it moved toward us as though it was mad or angry because we didn’t go across the bridge. My father uncle and three more friends went out there about thirdy five years ago. They were told that a woman was having an affair with another man. The husband caught them and cut off her head then threw her over the bridge and into the water below. The other man got away. On the night they went they pulled over at the bridge and did the same thing the horn, lights, and door was to let the woman under the know that her lover was there so they could met under the bridge. My father said that as the got on to the bridge the wind started to blow hard and a fog came over the bridge in the fog you could see the woman holding her head under her arm and coming towards them they tried cranking the car the said the wind stopped and the car started the left and never went back….
I grew up on Harts Bridge Rd about 5 miles or so from the Bridge. The original bridge is long gone. The story I have
always heard was that a boy and girl was on a motorcycle and it was raining and they went over the side of the bridge and the girl’s head was cut off by a barb-wired fence. You drive onto the bridge and honk your horn twice and flash your headlights and the girl appears looking for her head. I have in the past done this many times and have never saw a thing. But it use to make a good scary Sat. nite a blast.
That sounds about like the story I was told. I have been there several times as well and never saw anything, but it is a good place for thrill seekers since there are stories about it and it isn’t trespassing.
