The Doll House, Hope Hill Cemetery – Medina, TN
April 28, 2008 by atorturedsoul
I think the reason why this place has gained so much interest is because one of the graves is far from ordinary. I have been to this place a time or two and it is something interesting to see.
In Hope Hill Cemetery is the grave of a 5 year old girl, Dorothy Marie Harvey, who died in 1931. It is covered by a large doll house that is complete with real windows. Inside it are a few toys and some say you can sometimes see the little girl inside the house playing.
This picture was borrowed from GhostVillage.com:

The person who took the picture claims to be able to see the little girl through the window. All I see is the person’s own reflection. Do you see anything different?
When I visited this cemetery I never saw or heard anything. It is still a great spot to visit because it’s something you don’t see everyday.

Hello my friends
I live near Medina and I have been to the dollhouse before at night and have taken pictures in which orbs have shown up and upon looking in the dollhouse with my friend the door slammed into the house without there being any wind. Another of my friends have been there and has been scratched shortly after entering the house and not leaving a stuffed animal for her to play with.I just thought i would add a comment and add some insight
Thanks for the info! I would like to go back to this cemetery but I have been told that the new caretaker doesn’t allow anyone in after dark. It’s been about 15 years since I have been there. Do you know if this is true or if there is a sign stating cemetery hours anywhere?
7am to 6pm the caretaker is picky about people coming in after dark due to vandalism.
My Family and I had went out to the cemetery we called first before we went. We were out there taking pictures of the headstones for our family ancestery It was about 8 or 9 P.M. We live so far away that is was late when we got there. We did take a few pictures of the doll house and the headstone we are planning to go back because we didn’t get all the headstones. While we were taking pictures at the doll house my nephew and I could smell musty almonds the smell was musty and yet sweet like almonds smell yet it was a dreadful smell all the same. We did take the little girl a teddy bear so that we wouldn’t affend her for visiting and not leaving her anything. It was so cold out there. The ground had already started turning white from the frost that was falling. While we were there it felt like someone was watching us. On the way out we heard footsteps behind us the leaves was cracking and crunching behind us we never looked back. We move as fast as we could. Without running. I did manage to look back for a second as we exited the gate. I didn’t see anything but it was a trill just being there.
A few years ago some friends and I went out to this cemetary to see the dollhouse. This was the first time I had been, some of my friends had been before. We went late at night. There was coloring on the inside walls of the dollhouse, looks like a child had done. We never saw anything but one of my friends had scratches on her that we didn’t notice until we got back to the car, since it had been so dark. While we were walking back to the car it felt as though someone was following us. One of my friends said that it was the child’s relative that keeps watch over her.
Last Friday, three friends and I went to Hope Hill Cemetery in hopes of seeing something spooky. We were all pumped up on the way there. We discussed the things that we had heard about it and things that we hoped to see. We came up to a sign that said “HOPE HILL CEMETERY” in little mailbox letters, which in a way is much creepier than what we expected. We drove up this little dirt road into what I later learned was the African American part of the cemetery. This area was much scarier than the main part of the cemetery. We all felt uneasy about the location and the fact that most of the gravestones were simply marked with an X. We didn’t stay in that part very long before trespassing into the main cemetery. After jumping the fence and walking to the back part of the cemetery, we reached it… the Haunted Dollhouse! I took several pictures of the cemetery and the dollhouse, but I didn’t get the same vibe there as in the smaller section. It was a very sad place, but it didn’t seem as eerie as I had thought. We made two trips up to the dollhouse that night. On the first, a friend and I made our way up to it but saw something moving around inside through the side window. We didn’t go all the way up to it because we weren’t sure what it was in the dollhouse, but we both agreed that there was something inside. We went back to the car and talked it over with our other friends and decided that we had done so much research and traveled to the actual location, so we had to go up it. On our second visit, we went all the way up to dollhouse. The whole time I was taking pictures. We went up to and looked inside the dollhouse and we payed our respects to Dorothy. We heard something which sounded like came from the other part of the cemetery so we decided that it was time to go. We had done what we had set out to do, so our work there was done. We jogged back across the cemetery, jumped the fence, and got back into the car and left. While on our way back home I started looking through my camera at the pictures that I had just taken moments before. To my surprise, on one of the pictures while walking up to the dollhouse, there was an orb on the roof. An upclose picture of the glass at the back of the dollhouse is my favorite though… when you zoom in and look just above the headstone, you can see a child’s face peering back at you. It’s very creepy! If you would like to see my photos… please email me at dark_skyes85@yahoo.com or you can find me on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/dustin38382.
I can see the face in the picture taken behind the window. Yes, there is a reflection of the person who’s taking the photo but if you look closely, there is like a half side of a human face, quite transparent actually, but you can still see it. For some reason, it doesn’t look a childlike as it should – it look more like a woman in her 50-s. But maybe the children that time were a little different looking and looked older than nowadays. Anyway, i will give you the cm by cm instructions how you can see the face the author is probably talking about. if you are looking the right top corner, you move 5 cm left, from that point move 5 cm down. If you still don’t see it, move 5 cm from the right top corner down and 5 cm left from that point. Now you should be seeing a half of woman’s face there, looking towards you. It is kind of creepy. Good luck finding.

I went there back when I was in high school, back in the mid 90s. The most vivid memory seemed like in the fall of 1996 around Halloween. A group of us went out to the cemetery, and as we walked up to the grave site we looked at the other graves. One grave was marked EVIL and others had pentagrams on them. Now this wasn’t vandalism, it was the grave stones in its original form. Additionally, as soon as we got up to the site, we heard coyotes in the distance and what seemed like machines grinding. I can honestly say I was scared out of my wits and have never returned.
Here’s my experience at the doll house. I drive home from work that way and decided to stop and check it out. I left my vehicle running while I was there. I didn’t know what the protocol was, so I didn’t have a gift to leave. I got inside and read the marker through the window, but didn’t notice anything spooky. Since I don’t really believe in ghosts, I challenged to see some sign that she existed. After about 10 mins. there I returned to the vehicle and started to leave. My vehicle started bucking and missing. I had decided that I was getting home no matter what and I drove the approx. 10 miles home. It was all that I could do to keep the vehicle running. When I got home I opened the hood and my spark plug wire was completely off the plug. It was running perfectly before stopping at the doll house. I could understand if it was loose, but completely off is spooky. You figure.
